Sustainability

At Lenze, sustainability is not green, but blue. Because it is at the heart of our DNA.

  • As a leading automation specialist, we are shaping the future of mechanical and plant engineering and always thinking one step ahead.
  • As an enabler for the digitalized factory of tomorrow, we help our customers to make their production economical and at the same time to achieve their own sustainability goals.
  • As an internationally active family-owned company, we have been assuming social and societal responsibility for over 75 years.

What drives us

For us, it is clear that sustainable and responsible corporate growth can only be achieved in harmony with the regional economic areas. The most recent example is the Mechatronic Competence Campus (MCC) opened in 2022, which is a central component of our global growth strategy and, simultaneously, a commitment to the Extertal region, one of our first production sites.

Sustainability is a question of attitude and a central field of action in our strategy for the future and for growth. We believe that the companies that will win economically in the future will be those that take sustainability seriously and systematically implement this challenging long-term task. In the coming years, a clear roadmap will lead us step by step toward climate neutrality. The European Green Deal sets the legal framework for this.

The sustainable orientation of our company and of our range of services and products reduces our own carbon footprint and that of our customers. Our holistic approach combines economic, ecological, and social aspects.

Digitalization for greater sustainability in industry

With a share of 30 percent, industry is a major energy consumer. The potential for savings is enormous. We help machine builders and operators to greatly reduce wasteful use of energy. How do we do that specifically? With the digital twin and machine data. From this, we precisely extract the data we need for energy optimization. Using this small data and our domain expertise, we reduce energy consumption. Extrapolated to all production machines and conveyor systems, industry can save up to 50 percent energy with our approach!

What else are we doing?

The focus is on developing resource-saving processes, products and systems with great customer benefits. Our continuously high equity ratio reflects our economic stability. Sustainability and environmental criteria are also decisive in the selection of our suppliers. Almost all production sites are ISO 14001 certified. Energy-saving measures concerning power supply, lighting, waste heat recovery etc. are continuously applied.

We invest in attractive working conditions and training for our employees, promote young talent, and aim to attract more women to IT and technology professions and management positions. Our social commitment involves numerous donations and sponsorship activities - locally, regionally, and globally.

The UN's Sustainable Development Goals

To combine economic growth with greater equality of opportunity, more resource conservation and fewer CO2 emissions, the United Nations (UN) has adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They provide stakeholders from politics, business and society with a uniform framework for sustainability management. They guide us, too, and in developing our sustainability strategy we focus on these four goals:

Gender equality
