Application:
In mechatronics, the term "flying saw" stands for the synchronisation of a tool to a continuously running material path. This means that machining no longer has to take place when the material is at a standstill. In this way, gentle material transport, optimum resource utilisation of the machine and, in many cases, a higher production rate can be achieved.

In contrast to rotary machining tools, flying saw kinematics represent translational and thus limited dimensional systems. The flying saw technology is based on the principle of the electric shaft (synchronous synchronisation of the tool slide with the material flow).

In order to move the saw carriage from one machining position to the next, the synchronicity to the material is dissolved after the machining process and the tool carriage is synchronised to the material at the next machining position. The change between the machining positions represents a time-controlled positioning process and can be adjusted by the user to the requirements of his machine.

With the technology module "Flying Saw", applications for synchronous sawing and cutting processes on a continuously moving material can be realised.
