Parameter sets are not transferred to controller (fixed from V1.5)

Corrected from:
Controller c520 V1.5
Controller c550 V1.5
Controller c750 V1.5

Response of the new version:
After the PLC project download, the parameter values in the controller correspond to those in the PLC Designer project.

What happens?
In some cases parameters of the controller or the connected EtherCAT slaves (Frequency Inverter i550, Servo Inverter i700 and i950 CiA and IO1000 bus coupler EPM-S130) do not have the values from the PLC Designer project.

When does the behaviour occur?
The behavior described above occurs when a PLC Designer project is modified and transferred to the controller with the following sequence:
  1. A boot application is present on controller.
  2. The PLC project from step 1 is transferred via download with parameter values changed to the boot project (parameters of the controller or the EtherCAT slaves).
  3. Switch controller off and on again.
  4. Execute command 'Clean all' (menu 'Build') or change the PLC project, e.g. the PLC logic, but without changing the parameter values. I.e. the parameter sets of controller and connected slaves are as in step 2.
  5. PLC Designer project again transferred to the controller.
In the controller after the PLC project download the parameter values from the boot application become active and thus differ from the parameter values in the PLC Designer project.

Which products are affected?
Controller c520 ab V1.0
Controller c550 ab V1.0
Controller c750 ab V1.0

Short-term measures:
Always create a boot project online after a download.

You can do this
  • manually or
  • by setting the option 'Create implicit boot application on download' (select object 'Application', context menu 'Properties', category 'Boot application').

Evaluation/recommendations:
Under the conditions described above it is possible that the controller or the connected EtherCAT slaves do not work with the parameter values set in the PLC Designer project. This can lead to unexpected misbehavior of the machine. This function restriction does not occur during operation, but when changes are made to the PLC project, e.g. during the commissioning phase.
The download via online change is not affected by this function restriction.
