Function extension:
The motor utilisation monitoring function (I²xt) has been default set to active:
This measure ensures that users/commissioning engineers do not "forget" to activate the motor monitoring function (I²xt), which is frequently the case.
Deactivating the motor monitoring function is now a deliberate user decision. As a result, users/commissioning engineers can no longer simply "forget" to activate the monitoring function. This ensures an enhanced motor protection for an increased number of applications.
Effects of the new Lenze i700 setting on existing projects:
Effects are only to be expected if the firmware in the PLC project is updated to the changed firmware version.
In running systems, the i700 firmware is overwritten by the firmware version in the boot project of the controller. Accordingly, the parameter settings from the project are accepted as well.
Taking the described advantages into account, possible small effects on existing projects during an update are considered to be acceptable.

Application:
Activation of the motor utilisation monitoring function (I²xt) is particularly recommended for applications with motors without feedback and, accordingly, without temperature sensors in the motor windings.
As a matter of principle, this monitoring function which is based on a computer simulation of the motor utilisation cannot guarantee complete motor protection. In many cases, an imminent overload can, however, be detected and the motor can thus be protected.
