Incorrect TP detection when booting up with Hiperface encoder

Corrected from:

  • Inverter Drives 8400 TopLine V16.00.00

Response of the new version:

TP detection works correctly even when booting up the inverter.

What happens?

After switching the mains for the inverter (control card restart), the Hiperface encoder detects a touch probe event although there has been no zero crossing.
The TP encoder Z track signal counter C2816/8 is incremented.

When does this behaviour occur?

The behaviour occurs when booting up the control card and using a Hiperface encoder.

Which products are affected?

  • Inverter Drives 8400 TopLine lower than V16.00.00

Short-term measures:

If the encoder TP is used in an application, the TP event directly at the start should be masked out.

Evaluation/recommendations:

In general, applications typically using encoder touch-probe signals such as TP positioning or mark synchronisation are not affected by the function restriction since the TP signals are not directly evaluated when the inverter is started.
The function restriction concerns applications in which TP events are counted.
