Eliminated from:
9400 HighLine SW V7.0
Behaviour of the new version?
An EnDat encoder at X8 is initialised correctly following switch-on. Previously, an error in interpreting the serial bit stream from the encoder to the controller could lead to a communication error arising after the mains power had been switched on.
Description of the problem
When used in conjunction with an EnDat encoder, the controller sporadically indicates a communication error following mains switching ('EnDat encoder: Position initialisation error').
When does the problem occur?
The behaviour occurs once the supply voltage has been switched on and can only be eliminated by means of mains switching.
Which products are affected?
9400 HighLine SW ≤ V5.1
Diagnostics options?
The controller indicates the error 'EnDat encoder: Position initialisation error'.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
- Use a firmware version < V5.0, as the behaviour does not occur with lower firmware versions.
- Alternativaly, use a HIPERFACE absolute value encoder at X8.
Evaluation:
The functional restriction only occurs with firmware V5.0 and can be eliminated by means of mains switching. You can follow the advice provided under
Short-term measures/recommendations to reliably prevent the behaviour from arising.
