Remedied from:
8400 StateLine Firmware V4.01 onwards
Behaviour of the new version?
The above-named software version rectifies this functional restriction.
Which products are affected?
8400 StateLine Firmware ≤ V4.00
(8400 HighLine devices with SW V4.00 are not affected)
What happens?
After the flying restart function has been executed the drive connects with a speed setpoint of 0 rpm to a coasting machine and accelerates afterwards to the speed setpoint pending at the drive controller.
It may happen that Imax, possibly with clamp operation (OC11, OC17), or an overcurrent interruption of the drive controller (OC10) appears.
If the drive is decelerated and accelerated again afterwards a load impulse in the machine may be the result.
When does the problem occur?
The behaviour described appears directly after the flying restart process if the flying restart function is activated in the device (C0990/0 = 1 = flying restart circuit active).
After pulse inhibit the current motor speed is determined by the flying restart function in order to accelerate the drive to its speed setpoint from there onwards. The pulse inhibit may for example be caused by mains failure, controller inhibit, overvoltage in the DC bus due to operation in generator mode, etc.
Drives with a large moment of inertia (e.g. fans and winders) are typical applications.
Possible diagnostics?
Fast deceleration and subsequent acceleration of the drive after pulse inhibit; if necessary disconnection with OCx or corresponding entries into the history buffer.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
Update of the StateLine firmware to SW V04.01 onwards
Evaluation:
When new machines are set up, this behaviour is usually detected during commissioning.
In case of series machines or machines which are already in operation the behaviour may appear when the firmware version has been changed from < V04.00 to V04.00.
If this behaviour appears it may happen that the material to be produced is influenced in a negative way. It is improbable that the machine is damaged. Injury to persons can be excluded.
