Restriction when using breakpoints

Which products are affected?

EVS93xx-EI (Servo PLC Version 6.3 DSMC control board)
EVS93xx-ET (Servo PLC Version 6.3 DSMC control board)
EPL-10200-EI (Drive PLC Version 6.3)

What happens?

If during a commissioning breakpoints are used for diagnostics purposes the following restrictions are to be considered:

1. Do not use more than 100 breakpoints within the whole project.
2. Breakpoints can only be used in program organisation units (POUs) whose memory size is smaller than 16 kbytes.
When does the problem occur?

The restrictions must be considered when using breakpoints.

Possible diagnostics?

None.

Short-term measures/recommendations?

The number of breakpoints can be counted. The memory size of a POU can be determined by copying or importing the POU into a new DDS project. Afterward the new DDS project must be saved. The size of the new *.pro file indicates the size of the POU. If the file is larger than 16 kbytes it is not possible to use breakpoints.

Evaluation:

Breakpoints are only used in case of a commissioning or program optimisation. It is very unusual to set 100 breakpoints within one project. By applying the measures described before the restriction can be identified and therefore be avoided.
