Hardware-wise, there are now two different E/A expansion modules with additional input and output terminals are now available (only one I/O expansion module can be used per device):
i950 I/O Extension Module "Extended I/O":
4 digital inputs (connection HTL encoder with differential traces, up to 200 kHz)
2 digital outputs
1 analog input (current/voltage switchable or parallel)
1 analog output (voltage, as with the 8400TL implemented as PWM output)
Analog reference for potentiometer control (ANA_REF)
i950 I/O Extension Module "Digital I/O" (Slot A or Slot B):
5 digital inputs
5 digital outputs
For the i950 Hardware input and output terminals:
4 digital inputs
1 digital output
1 analog input
The additional I/O can be used for various functions in some technology applications (TA) and the PLC variant by configuring them accordingly via parameters:
i950 FW with TA "actuator speed"
i950 FW with TA "table positioning"
i950 PLC variant
Required Application Credits (AC) when using the I/O extension modules with i950 PLC variant: 100 + AC for TA
Analog input 2 (Extended I/O) can currently only be used in the i950 PLC variant.
