CAN sync function for application synchronization via CANopen field bus (from V01.08.00)

CAN-Sync function:
The application synchronization can now also take place via the CANopen fieldbus module and CAN-Sync telegrams, as an alternative to the standard synchronization via the distributed clock function (DC) of the onboard EtherCAT.

With CAN application synchronization the i950 only supports operation as a CAN sync slave. The CAN sync master function must be available in the higher-level control system.

Notes:
  • Due to the principle, only one of the synchronization functions can be actively used at a time.
  • If application synchronization is to take place via the CANopen fieldbus module, then activating DC via the onboard EtherCAT, both as a DC slave and as a DC master, has no effect and leads to EtherCAT communication errors. A transition from SAFEOP --> OP is not possible.
  • The onboard EtherCAT interface can therefore only be operated in "Free Run" mode.
  • Cross-fieldbus synchronization is not supported
    (CAN fieldbus module -->EtherCAT master i950 -->EtherCAT slaves).
