Commissioning function for "measuring the mechanical distance" (0x2825 = 11): If Ethernet communication is disturbed, the drive erroneously does not stop (corrected from V01.08.00)

Corrected from:
Servo Inverter i950 FW from V01.08.00

Response of the new version:
If Ethernet communication is disrupted during operation, the inverter is now automatically disabled after waiting for one second.

What happens?
In the commissioning function for "measuring the mechanical distance" (0x2825 = 11), the test signal sequence (PRBS signals) can be output during a movement. The movement can be parameterised via the speed offset. If a fault occurs in the Ethernet communication during the sequence, then the inverter can no longer be disabled by the user and the drive continues to move at the parameterised speed.

Note:
With the other modes of the test function 0x2825 = 12 to 14 the same can happen in principle, but these take place at standstill, so that the inverter 'only' remains enabled in the event of an occurrence and the drive does not move significantly.

When does the behaviour occur?
  • The commissioning function for "measuring the mechanical distance" (0x2825 = 11) occurs with a speed offset (0x2837:6 > 0 rpm) and
  • the function is controlled via a non-monitored bus access, e.g. via Ethernet and
  • faults occur in the Ethernet communication.
Note: In case of control via EtherCAT, the EtherCAT monitoring would respond and stop the drive if faults occur.
Which products are affected?

Short-term measures / evaluation / recommendations:
During the execution of the commissioning function, there must be a possibility to shut down, e.g. via STO.
This is generally recommended as a general measure.
On the probability of occurrence:
Normally, the commissioning function is not executed manually by the user, but using the user interfaces in the EasyStarter, in connection with the auto-tuning function.
