Response of the new version:
After a device exchange of an EtherCAT slave of the series Frequency Inverter i550 or Servo Inverter i700 the EtherCAT becomes operational.
What happens?
After a device replacement of an EtherCAT slave of the series Frequency Inverter i550 or Servo Inverter i700, the EtherCAT is not operational. The message appears in the log book:
Firmware update failed. The major version cannot be changed. Hardware incompatibility
When does the behaviour occur?
The behaviour occurs when
- one of the above-mentioned EtherCAT slaves is exchanged,
- and the parameter 0x5820/1 or C640 in the controller is set to '2' (=Enabled. Main Version Slave > Configured Version),
- and the firmware version in the exchanged EtherCAT slave does not correspond to the projected firmware version,
- and the firmware of another (different) EtherCAT slave has a larger major version (first number in the version number) than the projected firmware version.
Which products are affected?
Cabinet Controller c300
Cabinet Controller 3200C
Cabinet Controller c520
Cabinet Controller c550
Cabinet Controller c750
Panel Controller p300
Panel Controller p500
Short-term measures:
Use a replacement device with a suitable firmware version or set the parameter 0x5820/1 or C640 to the value '0' (=Disabled) in the parameter set of the controller, e.g. with the EASY Starter.
Evaluation / recommendations:
Due to this functional restriction, it is possible that after a device replacement of a Lenze drive connected to the EtherCAT, the EtherCAT does not become operational and thus the machine does not start. An application solution is described in the section Short-term measures.
