Servo Inverter i950 FW: from V01.07.05
Response of the new version:
Incorrectly stored retaining data are detected and reported the next time the device is switched on.
- Diagnosis in the logbook is possible.
- The error "0x63A8" ("Persistent data not stored correctly") is reported in the logbook.
- Persistent PLC data are deleted.
This means that no data is available for the reference / position reconstruction. Referencing by the machine operator is 'forced'. - Other user retaining data in the soft PLC are reset to their initialization value.
- An optinional used pollage monitoring (for synchronous motors) will request an identification of the pollage at the next startup.
Recommendation:
In applications with TA User (0x4000 = 10000) it can be detected by means of a user retain variable at the reliable one, whether the retain area was deleted due to the occurred error 0x63A8. For this purpose the variable should be written once with a value unequal to its initialization value.
If the retain area is then deleted, the variable returns to its initialization state when it is switched on.

Data or stati restored from retain (mains fail-safe) information, after the i950 has been cycled, are faulty.
Affected by this are, for example:
- a reconstructed actual position of the axis
- the status 'Pollage identification done'.
- User retention data, such as meter readings, process stati, etc., when using the i950 as a programmable device.
Currently, the unit does not provide a status and/or log entry to indicate that the return data is incorrect.
When does the behaviour occur?
When the i950 is switched off (shutdown), if the retaining data could not be saved successfully in the internal flash memory, the last successfully saved retaining data will be restored.
This can occur if a system error interrupts the basic operating system in operation, making it necessary to switch the i950 to mains power.
Which products are affected?

Short-term measures / Evaluation / recommendations:
The application software does not show when outdated retaining data has been reconstructed.
In the event of an error, the position reconstruction after switching to mains for referenced axes with absolute encoders is carried out on the basis of an older position. This means that it is possible that the actual position in the i950 does not match the
real position of the machine part and there is a risk of collision.
The impact of invalid user retina data is application-specific and must be assessed individually.
From field feedback, one application is known to date where some i950s have experienced an interruption in operation, resulting in incorrect saving of the retain data.
The environmental conditions that lead to this are still being clarified.
