Ethernet Powerlink synchronisation not possible

Corrected from:
  • Inverter Drives 8400 StateLine V13.00.00
  • Inverter Drives 8400 HighLine V13.00.00
  • Inverter Drives 8400 TopLine V13.00.00
Response of the new version:
The function restriction has been removed.

Which products are affected?
Inverter Drives 8400 StateLine, HighLine, and TopLine with a firmware version 12.0x.00.00
with an Ethernet POWERLINK E84AYCEC communication module in any version.

What happens?
The telegrams to the control are identified as 'non-synchronous'. Synchronisation to the POWERLINK sync signal cannot be achieved.

When does the problem occur?
If an Ethernet POWERLINK E84AYCEC communication module is used and if the sync signal source selection is 'MCI'C1120=4, no synchronisation to the POWERLINK sync signal is effected.

Diagnostics options?
The sync instant of reception C370/2 remains zero. If the cyclic synchronisation was be correct, a value>0 with a low variation should be written here.

Short-term measures/recommendations?
In the respective previous firmware versions, the correct function is provided.

Evaluation:
The non-synchronised bus operation can be avoided if the 'Module OK' status of the EPL slaves are evaluated in the control. For axes with non-synchronised speed setpoints, the expected position time reference is no longer given. The positions of different axes drift away from each other.
For axes with absolute set positions, there is no drift. The missing synchronicity is not necessarily detected during commissioning.
