Function of Bit0, SwitchOn, in the control word (eliminated from FW 5.0 onwards)

Eliminated from:
StateLine / HighLine with firmware version V05.01 or higher

Behaviour of the new version?
FW 05.01 requires Bit0 (SwitchOn) set to TRUE in the wCANDriveControl and wMCIDriveControl control words for the drive to change from the ReadyToSwitchOn status to the SwitchOn status.
To be able to change to the ReadyToSwitchOn status, it suffices to set Bit0 (SwitchOn) to FALSE in one of the two control words.
If Bit0 is not addressed by the control system, the controller cannot be enabled.

If FW < 05.01, stimulation of the bit does not result in a change in status in the controller.

Distinction of cases:
  • Controller parameters are saved to the PLC program:

1. Bit0 must be stimulated by process data. The PLC program must be adapted to this purpose.
2. Write to Bit0 via codes and invert it in the 8400 (MCI: C0890/1 Bit0, CAN: C0401/1 Bit0).
  • In the controller:

1. Invert Bit0 in the parameter set (MCI: C0890/1 Bit0, CAN: C0401/1 Bit0).

Which products are affected?
8400 StateLine / HighLine with FW < 05.01

What happens?
If firmware version < 05.01, it suffices to set Bit0 (Bit0 = TRUE) in one of the wCANDriveControl or wMCIDriveControl control words for the drive to change to the SwitchOn status. If at least one of the two control words has been preconfigured with the constant wDriveCtrl word (constant value of 9), Bit0 will always be set in one of the two control words.

When does the problem occur?
If Bit0 is set to FALSE in one of the two control words, the drive does not change to the ReadyToSwitchOn status.

Possible diagnostics?
The ReadyToSwitchOn status is never reached, the drive always changes directly to the SwitchedOn status.

Short-term measures / recommendations?
None

Evaluation:
The drive has never actively changed to the ReadyToSwitchOn status so far. It was sufficient to set Bit3 (EnableOperation) in the control word. Additionally, Bit0 must be set now to enable the controller. This may cause problems when it comes to replacing inverters with the up-to-date firmware version V05.01.
