Which products are affected?
EMF2174 IB, CAN addressing module software version 1.0
What happens?
When switching on the drive controller and the module the CAN station is initialised with the values from codes C0350 and C0351. Afterwards, the AIF interface is addressed to for the first time by the drive controller and the EMF 2174 module is initialised. After the successful initialisation of the module the codes C0350 and C0351 are written with new values. Subsequently the module carries out a CAN Reset Node (C0356). As a result, the CAN station is reinitialised. If the CAN bus uses another baud rate than 500 kBaud the CAN telegrams on the bus are declared as Error Frames by our CAN station which works with 500 kBaud for a short period of time. As a result, the bus may crash (state 'Bus Off' or 'Warning').
When does the problem occur?
According to the default setting of the Lenze drive controllers code C0350 is set to address 1 and the baud rate C0351 is set to 500 kBaud. CAN bus problems may occur if the baud rate set on the EMF2174 module differs from the baud rate of the drive controller set under C0351 and if other CAN stations already communicate with the CAN bus.
Possible diagnostics?
If the EMF 2174 CAN addressing module is used and the CAN bus is operated with another baud rate than 500 KBaud the problem described before can occur.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
- Save the changed parameter set by using the keypad after the module has initialised once.
- If a PLC is connected to the CAN bus the parameter set can also be saved via the CAN bus.
Elimination:
In case of the new software version 1.1 of the module the parameter set is saved via C0002 after changing the codes C0350 and C0351. As a result, the problem described above can only occur once. When restarting the drive controller the correct baud rate is loaded immediately since it is already provided in the code.
Evaluation:
Since this error immediately occurs during the initial commissioning a critical status of the system cannot occur.
