Continuous path control

Term from numerical control technolgy (NC/ CNC technology)

Continuous path controllers are able to control two or more machine tool axes with interdependent functions such that tool and workpiece will relatively move at constant speed along a programmed, plane or three-dimensional randomly shaped curve.

Such machining requirements are typical of flame-cutting machines, profile milling machines, profile grinding machines, spark erosion machines, cloth cutting and drawing machines as well as of industrial robots and similar devices.
