Multi Drive 9400 installation backplane - cable cross-section of PE connection

Question:
Which cable cross-section is required for the PE connection of the installation backplane for the 9400 Multi Drives?

Answer:
The Mounting Instructions for the Multi Drive installation backplane contain the following information on the dimensioning of the PE cables:

It is imperative to comply with the regulations concerning minimum cross-sections of PE conductors. The cross-section of the PE conductors must be at least as large as the cross-section of the power connections.

The power connection of the Multi Drives is carried out via the busbar system. The busbars are designed for the supply of all Multi Drives connected and can carry up to 100 A. On this basis, the cross-section of the PE cables would be unproproportionally large.

It is more useful to take the required cross-section of the power connection for an equipollent Single Drive axis as a basis to determine the minimum cross-section of the PE cable.
Alternatively, the PE cable cross-section can also be dimensioned according to the cross-section of the DC cables that would be used for an imaginary complete supply of the Multi Drive axis via the +/-UG terminals if no busbars were available.

In addition, the Mounting Instructions for the Multi Drive 9400 installation backplane and especially the following information on protective measures shall apply:
Implement the actions required in the EN 61800-5-1. Especially:
• Fixed installation
• PE connection must conform to standards (PE conductor diameter  >= 10 mm² or PE conductor must be connected twice)
