9300EP: Travel range - how far is maximum positioning?

Question:

How large is the maximum travel range? How far is maximum positioning?

Answer:
  • Absolute positioning mode (C1210 = 0 or 2): The possible travel range for the positioning controller is between +/- 16300 revolutions of the position encoder (motor).
  • Relative positioning mode (C1210 = 1): The maximum feed length can be approx. +/- 16300 revolutions. Infinite feeds of this number of revolutions can be executed in succession.

Note:
Position values are represented internally in the 32 bit format. In the lower 16 bits one motor revolution is represented in resolution by 65536 inc/rev. Consequently, there are still theoretically the upper 16 bits (65536) available for the number of revolutions, the mathematical sign and reference offset. These boundary conditions produce the above maximum travel range.
