NTP function and name server: Simplified connection via NTP server names (from V01.08.00)

Function extension:
NTP function for automatically setting the system time:
The connection of the i950 to an NTP server is now also possible in a simpler way, namely by entering only the NTP server name.

Until now, to configure the connection to an NTP server, the associated IP addresses can be parameterized.

Parameters for DNS server:

  • 0x2451:5 "DNS server address"
  • 0x2452:7 "Active DNS server address"
  • Only one DNS server can be specified
DNS names for NTP servers:
  • 0x245A:6 "NTP Server Name 1"
  • 0x245A:7 "NTP Server Name 2"
  • 0x245A:8 "NTP Server Name 3"
  • 0x245A:9 "NTP Server Name 4"
  • The previous IP address settings can be used in parallel with the new possible DNS names
  • Provided DNS names are roughly checked (see RFC952, RFC1123, RFC1178):
Allowed length: 253 visible characters, only [a-z|A-Z|0-9|-|_|.
