Absolute value encoder (X8) as motor encoder / resolver (X7) as position encoder

Eliminated from:
EVS93xx-EK V8.1, EVS93xx-CK V8.1

Behaviour of the new version?
If an absolute value encoder connected to X8 and a resolver are used at the same time while the absolute value encoder is untypically configured as motor encoder (C0495) and the resolver as position encoder (C0490) the drive controller now completes the initialization phase correctly.

Which products are affected?
EVS93xx-EK V7.1, EVS93xx-CK V7.1

What happens?
The initialization phase is not finished. The drive controller does not reach the status 'ready for operation'.

When does the problem occur?
The problem occurs if
  • an absolute value encoder and a resolver are used simultaneously and
  • the absolute value encoder is untypically configured as motor encoder (C0495) and the resolver for the position (C0490).

Moreover, the problem only occurs, when the absolute value encoder is actually connected to X8.

Possible diagnostics?
After a certain period of time the drive does not show the status 'ready for operation' (RDY).

Short-term measures/recommendations?
When resolver and absolute value encoder are used simultaneously, always configure the resolver as the motor encoder (in practical life it is always like this).
When the initialization is not finished the codes cannot be accessed, so that the undesired configuration cannot be modified, as well.
In this case the absolute value encoder is to be withdrawn from X8 and afterwards mains switching is to be executed. Now the initialization is executed correctly and the status 'RDY' is reached, so that the configuration can be modified again.

Evaluation:
The above-mentioned encoder configuration is 'academic' and will not happen in practical life. Consequently, the resulting behaviour is no problem for applications in the field so that no urgent measures are to be taken.
This statement is confirmed by fact that this behaviour, existing in all versions, has not occurred until now.
