Which products are affected?
All 9400 devices in which the axes are synchronised via EPL [C01120 = 4 (EPL) or 5 (EPL) depending on where the powerlink module is attached]
What happens?
The synchronisation of the drives is stopped and the drives remain asynchronously. As a result, the same value is sporadically detected in two cycles in the basic device.
In the technology application 'Electronic gearbox' or 'Synchronism' mode the behaviour described before leads to a hard torque jerk which dependent on the intensification can be heard as a 'cracking' in the drive.
When does the problem occur?
The synchronisation can stop if being executed via EPL and when being disturbed briefly in one of the axes. This may be caused
- in case of Reset Node at EPL MN (C13102 = 40)
- if a parameter set is downloaded in a drive controller connected to an EPL network
Possible diagnostics?
The error message 'EPL synchronisation lost from master (MN)' is indicated.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
If the error occurs:
Safe the parameter set in the drive controller after the download and switch the network off and on again. In very few cases the synchronisation is not re-established again. If this happens, repeat the mains connection process.
How the error can generally be avoided:
Synchronise the drive controllers via the terminals. The setting required for doing so is to be made under code C01120.
Evaluation:
The usability is restricted when the workaround is used. As a result, the time required for the initial commissioning is prolonged.
