Function description
In order to create and process variables any word processor program or spread-sheet program can be called up in the Variable project component window via the <External Editor> button. If the external program is called, the HMI Designer passes the complete variable list on to this program in text format (Unicode) or CSV format. Modifications of the variable list which have been saved by means of the external program are automatically adapted in the HMI project when returned to the HMI Designer.
In the External editor Settings dialog (menu item: Tools>External editor Settings) the external program with which the variable list is to be processed and the format (Unicode Text or CSV) can be selected. According to the default setting, Microsoft Excel is set as processing program.
