ECS supply module, parallel operation of two ECS supply modules is impossible
Question:
Why can two ECS supply modules not be operated in parallel at the same DC-bus?
Answer:
Parallel operation of two ECS supply modules at the same DC-bus is impossible due to the start-up sequences different from each other.
When the 24 V-DC-supply is added the internal brake resistor is switched on in order to discharge the DC-bus actively. Then earth fault and short-circuit are detected before the DC-bus is loaded. The start-up-sequences of two ECS supply modules cannot be synchronised. Overlapping in the sequence can lead to mutual influence and to activation of the brake resistor's monitoring. This can lead to error messages in the supply module.
