Data transfer rate

The data transfer rate (also data rate,  transmission rate) is the transfer speed of data. It is measured by counting the data units per time unit. Most of the electronic data are digital. The smallest electronic data unit is the Bit. Therefore, the most common type of data transfer rate is the Bit rate.
