What happens?
When accessing the OPC UA Server of the Lenze controller from an OPC UA Client (e.g. a visualisation), the following appears
  • an error message or
  • no variables of the PLC project can be browsed or
  • no variable values are displayed.
When does the behaviour occur?
As of firmware version V1.7 of the affected Lenze controllers, the CODESYS OPC UA Server has been replaced by the Lenze OPC UA Server.
The OPC UA servers are compatible with regard to engineering. For both servers, PLC variables are selected for the OPC UA information model via the symbol configuration in the PLC Designer.
For PLC projects created with a device description of a Lenze controller with a firmware ≤ V01.04 and now loaded on a controller with firmware ≥ V01.07, the Lenze OPC UA Server does not display a PLCopen information model. This means that the variables of the PLC project cannot be accessed by an OPC UA client and the behaviour described above occurs.

Which products are affected?
Cabinet Controller c520 from V1.7
Cabinet Controller c550 from V1.7
Cabinet Controller c750 from V1.7

Short-term measures:
Use the PLC Designer in the affected PLC project to update the controller to a device description with version ≥ V01.05.

Evaluation / recommendations:
The function restriction occurs when a PLC project created for a controller with firmware V1.4 or older is loaded into a controller with the current firmware version using the PLC Designer and variables of the PLC project are accessed via OPC UA.
In the case of a unit replacement, the functional restriction only occurs if the firmware stored on the SD card or in the backup cannot be loaded into the replacement controller due to a hardware incompatibility.
