9374IB input terminals, no increased current input with new hardware status

Application:
Actuation of the input terminals of terminal extension 9374IB via a separate control power supply, e. g. via a digital output terminal on drive controller 9300.

Description:
With old hardware statuses of terminal extension 9374IB (<= .0C.05) increased current input can occur at the inputs (e. g. 250 mA) if:
  • outputs of the same 9374IB are switched simultaneously and
  • the voltage of the separate control power supply is higher than in the actual 24 V supply.

This increased current input is due to the fact that the outputs in this case are also supplied via the inputs connected to the external power supply.

New hardware: .1A.10:
Within the scope of a hardware revision in the 3rd quarter of 2001 the additional isolating diodes were fitted so that the effect described above no longer occurs as of hardware status '1A'. The module can now be supplied with power and configured by any means.
