CSMA/CD - Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection

Bus access procedure with stochastic access, this means there is no defined order for the single participants. By "listening" [carrier sensing] each station checks, if currently the bus transfers data or not. If not, a station willing to send can start transmission. If two or  more stations try this at the same time, there will be a collision. This collision is detected and transmission is immediately stopped. After a random period of time each station willing to send can access the bus medium again. This enables many participants to access the bus with little limitations. This procedure does not require a central network management.
