Description of the Behavior:
Variables that are linked to the process image via a component of a union data type are not updated with the process image.
Under what conditions does this behavior occur?
If a project contains a union data type where one component is linked to the process image and only the other component is usedin the PLC application, the process image is not fully updated if the setting "Always update variables = Disabled" is enabled for that part of the process image.
Affected products:
PLC Designer version 3.0 and later
Short-term measures:
Set the setting for the respective process image to "Always update variables = Enabled 1" or "Always update variables = Enabled 2".
Evaluation/Recommendations:
By default in PLC Designer, the process image of a variable is updated only if it is also used in the PLC application. This functional limitation occurs only when a component of a union data type is used in the process image. In this case, an application-level solution is described under "Short-Term Measures."
