PLC Designer 4.2 installation fails with Error: Package 'PLCDBase' requested an rollback.

Conditions under which the behavior occurs: 
When CodeMeter Runtime V9 is already installed at PC.

PLC Designer V4.2

 

Short-term measure, recommendations, evaluation: 

  1. Backup CodeMeter licenses 
  2. Uninstall CodeMeter Runtime V9 (64-bit).
  3. Reboot the system.
  4. Install Lenze PLC Designer Setup 4.2.0.
  5. If required, reinstall CodeMeter Runtime V9 after the PLC Designer installation is complete.
