Users will also be able to update the safety firmware on devices that have already been shipped. The safety firmware is downloaded together with the basic device’s firmware using the Easy Firmware Loader.

i950B Extended Safety with FW V02.00.01.3938, Safety Firmware V02.00.01.13212, and Easy Firmware Loader > V01.31.0
Application:
After downloading the basic device and safety firmware, only the basic device firmware is updated immediately. The next time the drive is powered on, the system checks whether the version of the safety firmware currently installed on the device is compatible with the basic device firmware and, if necessary, performs an automatic update or downgrade of the safety firmware.
Starting with the version mentioned above, only fixed bundles consisting of basic device firmware and safety firmware are available and can be operated.
Note:
Devices of the i950A model with basic device firmware < V02.00 cannot be updated in this manner.
