Functionality Extension:
In connection with the implementation of the CRA functionality, there is a requirement to be able to reset the firmware configuration to its factory default state in order to, for example, undo unintended access restrictions or forgotten engineering access settings. It may also be necessary to restore the “brand new” status.
There are two ways to do this, both of which reset all user settings and delete all user data:
- Execute device command 0x2022:52
- Boot the i950 with a reset.txt command file on the SD card (the file contains no further data)
In both cases, an unintended reset is doubly protected: after the command is issued, the device must also be powered off within a defined time window.
To perform the factory reset, you must therefore either have physical access to the device to write to the SD card and reinsert it, or you must be able to go online to execute device command 0x2022:52. Additionally, it must be possible to interrupt the power supply at the right moment.
Procedure for performing a factory reset using the command file on the SD card:
- On the SD card the file reset.txt is created in the ../settings/ folder
- The i950 is restarted while this SD card is inserted
- The blue LED on the front of the case signals that a factory reset is to be performed by flashing slowly
- As soon as the flashing stops after about 30 seconds, the i950 must be turned off to confirm the reset request
- Upon the next startup, the blue LED will flash once per second to indicate the “brand new” status
All device-specific data,
including all security settings, is permanently
deleted.
Retain data from previous use of the i950 are
deleted.
Data not associated with the device will not be modified or deleted.
This may include user files, such as photos or manuals.
Usage information, such as the operating hours counter or overcurrent event counter, is retained so that it remains accessible in the event of service issues.
