Too high machine downtime is one of the reasons for a low production volume on a production machine. In many cases, there is no automated system in place recording every single event on the machine, which leads to a machine downtime and loss of the machine availability. It is often not clear, which event or fault creates the actual or last downtime situation.

By using an automated production logbook identifying and recording the root cause reason for a machine downtime and categorizing it, makes it easy to track frequencies or long-time downtime reasons. Statistics, such as a pareto analysis, can address, for example, the top ten reasons over a period. By comparing machines, patterns can be found and easily addressed.

If the solution can provide feedback to the downtime event directly from the operator or maintenance staff in a managed way, additional information is linked to the automated generated data.

All that helps the maintenance and production to priorities maintenance schedules and tasks, and can be optimized in continuous improvement programs, which all reduces the overall downtime on the machine and downtime and maintenance costs.

This App provides machine downtime analytics, such as pareto, single and root cause events, such as reasons for machine stoppage, e.g. drive fault, or operation changes, e.g. change of line speed, and its duration based on the available machine data.

By storing these events automatically in a machine production logbook, a chronologic sequence of production and machine events is tracked. The operator or maintenance staff can add additional information to a specific event, if further clarification is helpful.
