i950, internal brake control: When closing during the opening time, the inverter is disabled too early (fixed from V01.10.00)

Removed from:
Servo inverter i950 FW:  from V01.10.00
Behavior of the new version:
The internal brake control is now,
if, during the opening sequence (brake opening time has not yet elapsed), the controller is to be disabled again when the controller is enabled,
the controller is to be disabled again, the brake application time is waited for before the controller is disabled internally.
This prevents the active load from sagging.

Description of the behavior:
i950: With internal brake control, the inverter is disabled immediately and therefore too early under certain time conditions when the brake is closed. The brake closing time is incorrectly not waited for.
The torque is therefore immediately set to zero and as a result an active load can sag until the mechanical brake actually engages again.

Conditions under which the behavior occurs:

  • internal brake control 0x2820:1=[0] and
  • Release the controller (this activates the holding brake for opening) and
  • while the opening sequence is still running (brake opening time has not yet expired), lock the controller again (this instructs the brake to close).
Affected products:
Servo inverter i950 FW < V01.10.00

Short-term measures, Recommendations, Rating:
The occurrence of the described behavior can be prevented via the application by first waiting until the brake is fully open (the controller reports released) after the brake has been activated for opening before closing  (locking the controller) is ordered.

Note on assessing the possible effects on the application/machine:

  • Immediate locking of the inverter occurs in the same way when the Safe Torque Off (STO) function is triggered (externally or due to a device-internal fault reaction)
  • The user must therefore take precautions for this case if the temporal behavior could have avoidable effects on the safety of machine operation.
