Behaviour of new version:
The communication software CAN ≥ V2.2.10.0 doesn't occur trouble on PCs equipped with Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors.
What happens?
The following responses may occur:
- Windows cannot be started any more or it does not run properly any longer (e. g. files are not displayed in the Windows Explorer).
- The installation routine of Lenze PC software (e. g. GDC) is interrupted.
- It is not possible to establish a connection with Lenze PC software (e. g. GDC) via CAN.
When does the problem occur?
The function restriction occurs after installation of the Lenze CAN drivers on PCs equipped with Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors. As far as we know, further processor types are not affected.
Which products are affected?
- CAN communication software up to and including V2.2.9.0
as well as all Lenze PC software products which also install this particular CAN communication software:
- L-force Engineer up to and including V2.10
- Global Drive Control up to and including V4.11
- Drive PLC Developer Studio up to and including V2.3.8.0
- L-force Loader up to and including V4.5
- Drive Server up to and including V1.3.1
Possible diagnostics?
- Check if one of the affected processor types is installed on the PC Windows-Control Panel>System).
- Check the CAN communication software version (e.g. under the system bus configuratior menu item ? > Info).
Short-term measures/recommendations?
a) How to avoid the function restriction:
Install the Engineering Software with version higher as listed (it contains the communication software CAN ≥ V2.2.10.0) on PCs equipped with Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors.
b) How to eliminate the function restriction if the PC already shows one of the responses described before:
Start your PC in 'safe mode' (by pressing F8 during the boot-up process).
Install one of the Engineering Software with version higher as listed from an external data medium and restart your PC.
Evaluation:
The function restriction only occurs if a CAN communication software up to and including V2.2.9.0 is installed on a PC which is equipped with the new processor generation (processor i3, i5, i7).
