Keypad displays hieroglyphics (elimination)

Which products are affected?
EPL-10200 EI (Drive PLC V8.2)
EPL-10200 ET (Drive PLC V8.2 with technology function)

Eliminated function restriction:
If there is no user menu defined under code C0517, the keypad displays code C0094 (keypad password) when it has been attached to a PLC target system or when the PLC target system with an attached keypad has been switched on. The keypad does not display hieroglyphics.

Which products are affected?
EPL-10200 EI (Drive PLC <= V8.1)
EPL-10200 ET (Drive PLC <= V8.1 with technology function)

EMZ9371BC (Keypad XT)

What happens?
After the EMZ9371BC keypad has been attached to a PLC target system or when the PLC target system with an attached keypad has been switched on, the keypad displays hieroglyphics. If this is the case it may happen that the user menu cannot be exited.

When does the problem occur?
A user menu with 32 codes can be defined via code C0517 of the PLC target system. After the EMZ9371BC keypad has been attached to a PLC target system or when the PLC target system with an attached keypad has been switched on, the keypad displays the codes defined in the user menu.

The response described before occurs if the user menu under code C0517 has completely been deleted, i.e. no display code has been defined in the user menu.

Possible diagnostics?
None.

Short-term measures/recommendations?
Always define a display code (e. g. C0517/1= 94,00: keypad password) in the user menu (C0517).

Evaluation:
The keypad displays hieroglyphics. If this is the case it may happen that the user menu cannot be exited and that therefore codes cannot be displayed or changed via the keypad. The function restriction can be avoided by defining a display code in the user menu.
