DDS generates device description file in one language

Which products are affected?
ESP-DDS2-x (Drive PLC Developer Studio V2.x)

What happens?
In the Instance parameter manager (tab Resources) three code texts, which are displayed in parameter setting programs such as GDC and on the Parameter Monitor, can be entered for every user code. During the compilation process DDS generates a device description file which can be read by the parameter setting programs so that they will be able to display the code texts.

If a DDS project is compiled it is only possible to generate one device description file for one language.
If the device description is generated for a second language, the DDS project is changed. In order to be able to log in the PLC target system (e. g. Servo PLC) the DDS project is to be reloaded into the PLC target system. With every generation of a device description file this file is equipped with a new ID (PDB ID). As a result the device descriptions of different languages no longer match with the project in the PLC target system.

When does the problem occur?
By means of DDS V1.x it was possible to generate three device description files (one for each language) at the same time when a project was compiled. In case of DDS V2.x the Language selection has been changed from check boxes (multiple selection) to radio button (single selection) in the options dialog (menu item: Project>Options), GDC device description category. As a result, only one language can be selected when the device description file is generated.

Possible diagnostics?
None.

Short-term measures/recommendations?
None.

Evaluation:
It is only possible to generate the device description file for one language by means of the DDS. If device descriptions for different languages are to be generated from the same project these description files are equipped with a new ID and do therefore no longer match with the project in the PLC target system.
