Which products are affected?
Global Drive Loader ≥ V3.0
What happens?
The Global Drive Loader is not able to load a parameter set file (GDC-file) to a target system (drive controller) whose firmware version is newer than the target system the parameter set file has been generated for.
When the download is started the following message occurs in the message window:
The PDB ID of the Drive Server device description does not match the PDB ID of the parameter file.
Parameter transfer cannot be executed.
Error! (C400h)
Example:
A parameter set file created for a standard Servo V6.1 cannot be downloaded to the standard Servo V6.2.
When does the problem occur?
A parameter set file stores not only the parameter set, but also e. g. the information for which target system and firmware version of the target system the parameter set has been created.
The reaction described above occurs when a parameter set file is supposed to be loaded to a target system with the next higher firmware version using the Global Drive Loader.
Possible diagnostics?
None.
Short-term measures/recommendations?
Install Service Pack 2 of the Global Drive Loader V3.0. With Service Pack 2 this function restriction has been eliminated, this means parameter set files created for an earlier version of a target system can be loaded to each later (compatible) version of the target system.
Evaluation:
With Service Pack 2 of the Global Drive Loader V3.0 this function restriction has been eliminated.
