A crash occurs if a direct command is executed with a data storage

Which products are concerned?

ESP-HMI1-P (HMI Designer version 1.5)
EPM-H410 (graphical display with input keys)
EPM-H510 (touch screen)
EPM-H520 (touch screen)

What happens?

If a function key or a touch key is pressed, the command to modify a variable value (direct command), which is connected to the key / touch key, is not executed or the keypad shows a blank screen after the command has been executed and does not react to any input.

When does the problem occur?

If the variable whose value is modified by the direct command is a recipe variable (data storage location), the execution of this direct command leads to the above-mentioned behaviour.

Possible diagnostics?

None

Short-term measures / recommendations?

A direct command which modifies the value of the data storage location must not be created.

Evaluation:

Since only a constant value can be assigned to a variable using a direct command, this functionality is only rarely used for recipe variables. This function restriction can be immediately detected during programming / commissioning. If a function restriction occurs, the keypad can be reset to the status 'Ready for operation' by connecting it to the mains.
