Complete duplication of parameter set and cam data on a 9300EK cam profiler (parameter transfer e. g. when exchanging the device)

Question:
In case of replacement of a 9300EK drive 'electronic cam profiler' the new device does not only need to have an identical parameterisation (GDC file) but also requires the right cam data. What procedure can be followed to transfer parameters and cam data from a source servo controller 9300EK (device to be replaced) to a target servo controller 9300EK (new device) when no data files (GDC file, LC7 file) is available?

Answer:
Duplication of the complete data can be done in six steps in principle:

  • Log on with GDC to the source device 9300EK
  • Use the GDC function Drive parameters => Read current parameter set from drive to upload the parameter set from the 9300EK drive (source drive) and save the parameter set to a GDC file on your hard disk via the menu item Drive parameters => Write all parameter sets to file...
  • Read the cam data from the source device 9300EK (menu item Dialog basic data => Profile Upload) and store the cam data in an LC7 file on your hard disk (menu item Dialog basic data => CAM store)
  • Disconnect the source device 9300EK and log on to the target device 9300EK.
  • Read the parameter set as generated in step 2 (GDC file) from hard disk via the menu item Drive parameters => Read all parameter sets from file... and download it to the target device 9300EK using the GDC function Drive parameters => Write current parameter set to drive.
  • Read the cam data file as generated in step 3 (LC7 file) from hard disk (menu item Dialog basic data => CAM load) and download the cam data to the target device 9300EK via the GDC function Dialog basic data => CAM download.
  • Additional note regarding step 3 and 6: cam data which have been uploaded from a 9300EK device must not be changed in the GDC Dialog profile-editor! Otherwise these cam data will loose its incremental accuracy (remainder calculation)!

The attached PDF document introduces the above mentioned procedure in detail.
