Cable assignment for connecting serial printer to HMI

Question:

How is the serial cable to be assigned when a serial printer is supposed to be connected to an operating instruction?

Answer:

Generally, the cable's assignment depends on the interface assignment of the serial printer. The cable assignment record (see below) shows a standard assignment for a 9 pole, serial printer interface.

All operating units, which can be connected to the printers, have a 25 pole serial interface (MSP), except the H502 operating unit, which has an 8 pole serial interface. The operating units use the serial interface as an interface for project planning and as a printer interface.

Note:
Before the cable is produced, you should check, if the interface assignment shown below corresponds to the one of your serial printer.

If your printer has a 9 pole interface with the below-mentioned assignment, you can also use the EPZ-H110 configuration cable for test purposes to connect the printer to the MSP-interface of the operating instruction.

Information about those operating units a serial printer can be connected to are given in article 200403358 (Anschluss von Druckern an HMIs).
