Question:
What can be the causes for the following error messages of DriveServer and GDC (OPC) when codes are to be accessed?
- DriveServer: 'Function CoCreateInstanceEx failed'
- GDC OPC: 'check the settings of the communication parameter'
Answer:
These error messages may occur when the required Windows XP rights of the PC user are not sufficient for the Lenze software tools.
Please check the DCOM setting of the operating systems by means of determinations in the operating instruction of the DriveServer.
If the DCOM settings are correct and the error message has still not disappeared, a remedy is to delete manually the DCOM restriction from the Windows Registry. For this purpose please start the Windows Registry with
Start =>
Execute, entry in the command line '
regedit'. Then the Windows Registry Editor is opened, which is, regarding the operation, very similar to the Windows Explorer. Following entries are to be checked:
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{79776052-2CCC-11D5-8AE2-006097711107}
In this entry (key) generally only two entries are allowed. Standard (Lenze OPC S7 Server) and RunAs (Interactiver User)
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{0F964451-D24B-11D3-A72B-525405F5B2CF}
In this entry (key) generally only two entries are allowed. Standard (Lenze OPC Driveserver V1.0) and RunAs (Interactiver User)
If both keys contain further entries, they have to be deleted.
In case of Windows 2000 you will find the two registry entries under other keys. The Windows Registry includes a search function. Mark the file HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID => right mouse botton => Search. For search word please enter 'Lenze'. Search the two keys 'Lenze OPC S7 Server' and 'Lenze OPC DriveServer V1.0' and check them as described above.
