Declaration of variables in the HMI editor

Question:

How do I have to declare and create variables in the editor of the HMI Designer if an HMI is to access standard codes in the controller (e.g. C0011) (read and write)?

Answer:

The correlation between data format of a code and possible selections in the HMI editor is explained in the HMI Designer manual (section 3.4.1.1 Access to codes). In addition, you need information on the data format of the code which can be read or written by an HMI. All codes belonging to the system are listed in the attribute table in the systems manual Part D1.2 (9300SHB0798) from Chapter 7.10. From column DT of the attribute table you can obtain the data format of the code (e.g. FIX32 for code C0011)  to create a variable which is then linked to this code.
