RAM - Random Access Memory

Storage that can be read, written and deleted. It keeps the information only as long as it is supplied with voltage. There is a difference between dynamic and static RAMs:
  • Dynamic RAMs can be realized with less transistors, but the content has to be refreshed after a certain while (memory refresh). Moreover, they are a bit more slowly.
  • Static RAMs do not require voltage supply to keep their content (ROM).
