Touch voltage

Voltage between conductive parts that may be present when these parts are touched by persons or animals. The term touch voltage characterises the voltage that is directly applied at the human or animal body and drives the touch current. Voltmeters with an internal resistance corresponding to the human body impedance (approx. 1000 Ohm) respectively to the animal body impedance (approx. 500 Ohm) are used to measure possible touch voltages.
