For the production plant, the production machine output of a day production is often not as high as expected. The reason for that is often not clear, as there may not be enough transparency of production and machine data. In some cases, some of the relevant data are collected manually, and therefore, may not be accurate and complete.

Having an 24/7 automated data collection solution in place, which can assign the low machine effectiveness to specific reasons, would help to understand the day-to-day situation on the production line. Using standard formulas, machine performance can be compared between machine and production lines, which brings additional clarifications.

Having full historical data and statistical information in place helps to find patterns or references to the low output. This helps to go from a re-act to a pro-active approach, which supports the continuous improvement process and, in the end, improves the output.
