i950 internal brake logic and 'ShutDown OptionCode' 0x605B = [1]: When locking via command 0x6040=0x06, the holding brake is activated with a delay (fixed from V01.10.00)

Highlighted from:
Servo inverter i950 FW:    from V01.10.00

Behavior of the new version:
The device-internal brake logic 0x2820:1=[0] now functions as expected.
When the ShutDown command is requested (0x6040=0x06) the load is now first taken over by the holding brake before the inverter is subsequently disabled and a state change to 'ReadyToSwitchOn' takes place.

Description of the behavior:
Under the conditions specified below, the inverter is disabled immediately after the QSP ramp expires and does not wait for the holding brake to be applied first. The inverter is therefore disabled too early and theas torque is immediately set to zero. As a result, an active load can sag until the mechanical brake actually engages additionally can be delayed.

Note: For devices with safety functionality, the message Brake error (0xFF02) may appear as a result.

Under what conditions does the behavior occur?

  • i950 Firmware V01.09.01
  • Device-internal brake logic active 0x2820:1=[0] and
  • Setting parameter 'ShutDown OptionCode' 0x605B = [1] (Slow down with QSP, disable drive) and
  • Lock inverter via command (0x6040=0x06).
Note: Dthe described behavior does not occur if to lock the inverter the command (0x6040=0x07) is used, as in the Lenze system:
  • Control word 0x6040=0x06 (command 'Switch off' / 'Shutdown'):
State change after state 'Ready to switch on' / 'ReadyToSwitchOn'
  • Control word 0x6040=0x07 (command 'Disable operation' / 'Disable operation'):
State change after 'Switched on' / 'SwitchedOn'
  • When commissioning the inverters with affected firmware, the behavior would typically  be detected before any effects can occur.
In the event of a device replacement or a firmware update to the affected version V01.09.01, the probability of detection is lower.

    Affected products:
Servo Inverter i950 FW, only V01.09.01 affected

    Short-term measures / Evaluation / recommendations:

In particular in applications with an active load, e.g. in hoists, it is important to ensure that the servo inverter is not exposed to a high level of stress.e.g. hoists, the quick engagement of the holding brake is essential.
The following alternative remedies are available:

    • Firmware update to the current i950 FW version >= V01.10.00  or
    • Set parameter 'Shutdown option code' to default: 0x605B=[0]  or
    • Use command 0x6040=0x07 instead of command 0x6040=0x06 to lock the inverter.
