Function extension:
The EtherCAT bus coupler EPM-S131 fully supports the 'Distributed Clocks' (DC) functionality.
It enables exact time synchronisation for applications in which several axes perform a coordinated movement at the same time. The data transfer takes place synchronously with the PLC program. With DC synchronisation, all slaves are synchronised with a reference clock, the so-called "DC master".
The EtherCAT bus coupler EPM-S131 is also DC master-capable.
Note: An evaluation of the recorded time stamps is only possible within a bus system. The IO modules with time stamps must either all be connected to the EtherCAT or all to the backplane bus. No time stamps (e.g. with MC_Touchprobe, L_MC1P_FASTOutput, L_MC2P_TappetRegister) can be evaluated if the IO modules are connected to EtherCAT and backplane bus in a distributed manner.

DC synchronisation ensures that the bus cycle task of the master and the slaves run phase-synchronously:
Within a bus cycle, the transfer of the setpoints and the recording of the actual values in the field devices always takes place at exactly the same time.
