"Reset error" of a short circuit disconnection (OC1)

Corrected from:
Inverter Drives 8400 StateLine, HighLine, and TopLine from firmware version 14.00.00.00

Response of the new version?
"Reset error" of short circuit (OC1) can only be executed after 3 seconds.

Which products are affected?
Inverter Drives 8400 StateLine, HighLine, and TopLine with a firmware version lower than 14.00.00.00

What happens?
If the error reset of a short circuit disconnection (OC1) of the device is executed immediately, the device may be destroyed.

When does the problem occur?
With an immediate "Reset error" (t < 3 s) of a pending short circuit, the device can be destroyed (e.g. immediate controller enable after error acknowledgement while motor terminals U and V are still bridged).

Short-term measures/recommendations?
"Reset error" only after 3 s and with checking the device and wiring beforehand.

Evaluation:
Basically, the device and wiring should be checked when OC1 occurs:
  • Check motor connections and the associated plug connector on the device
  • Comply with permissible combinations of device and motor power
  • Do not set a too great value for the current limitation controller dynamics
An automatic reset of errors is also not recommendable.
