Position controller cannot be deactivated via C1218/0 bit7 as expected

Corrected from:

  • Inverter Drives 8400 HighLine V16.00.00
  • Inverter Drives 8400 TopLine V16.00.00

Response of the new version:
If C1218/0 bit07=TRUE position control is not active

What happens?

Despite the MCK parameter setting: Position follower setting -> Position controller off (C1218/0 bit07=TRUE), compensating movements occur when a following error is pending.

When does this behaviour occur?

The behaviour always occurs in the 'Position follower' mode.

Which products are affected?

  • Inverter Drives 8400 HighLine < V16.00.00
  • Inverter Drives 8400 TopLine < V16.00.00

Short-term measures:

As an alternative, position control can be deactivated via a process data bit at LS_MotionControlKernel.bPosCtrlOn = FALSE.

Evaluation/recommendations:

In general, position control need not be deactivated in the 'Position follower' mode. If required, position control can be deactivated by bPosCtrlOn=FALSE. The behaviour may lead to unexpected compensating movements.
